Hideout Residency

The Hideout warmly welcomes Dann Morr as January Resident Artist!

Following closely on the release of his new album Shouting Into the Wind, Dann Morr will be appearing Tuesday nights in January at The Hideout, “Chicago’s most loved small venue” (1354 West Wabansia Avenue). He will be taking listeners on a loosely chronological trip through his catalog of songs with themed nights highlighting artists and songwriters who have influenced him along the way.

Shouting Into the Wind is a collection of indie rock gems that deftly incorporates the best parts of Dann Morr’s long tenure in the Chicago music scene. Since the 1990s he has been a singer and multi-instrumentalist in folk, rock, and power-pop groups including Wells-next-the-Sea, Analog Radio, The Carlisles, and The Gear, as well as bassist and backing vocalist for a number of Windy City artists- many of whom will be joining Morr on stage at The Hideout. “This is an amazing opportunity for me”, Morr says, “and I’m grateful to The Hideout for inviting me to expand on the music and themes of this new album in such a unique way.”

“My original plan for the album was to find a home for orphan songs that had fallen by the wayside over the last few years… songs that were performed by my previous bands, but never properly recorded or never released,” Morr explains. “Although, once we started recording together, I was inspired to write some new material for this amazing line up of musicians which we dubbed The Dashing Bastard Sideshow.

“This residency gives me the chance to delve even deeper; performing songs by my favorite artists and songwriters, revisiting some of my previous albums and bands, and inviting some of my best friends in the Chicago music scene to join me on stage at my favorite venue. It’s going to be quite a trip!” Like the new album, this series is an exploration of music that shows where Dann Morr comes from and where he is going.
